Slate
Slate is a 10-story mixed use building in the center of Portland’s Burnside bridgehead and acts as one of the gateways to the industrial Central Eastside. At the time of the projects conception, the development team was debating the scope and make-up of the buildings use. The design conceived an open matrix of matching concrete floors that could be programmed as either commercial or residential. The activities within each floor would be framed on the east and west facades by a series of portrait apertures, allowing the buildings use to become it’s facade.
Slate was completed while acting as a founding partner and the partner in charge of design for works progress architecture.
