Dopplegaanger Houses

The Dopplegaanger Houses are a pair of intertwined single family houses on a typical Portland single-family lot. The houses are arranged in a helical pattern to create a series of private exterior spaces circling a shared entry courtyard. Windows and doors are placed to create maximum privacy. Eschewing typical development patterns where lots are subdivided to create thinner and thinner homes, Dopplegaanger poses the challenge that two houses can coexist in the same space and enjoy the same exposures, sunlight, & views.
